Tragically, there has been a 37% increase in beach and coastal fatal drownings in New Zealand over the last 5 years compared to the previous 5 years . . . and over the last ten years, our fatal drownings have been 70% higher than Australia’s (per capita)!

Every drowning has a catastrophic effect on family and friends, but what is also upsetting, is that most fatal drownings on our beaches and coastline could have been prevented.

Even though we saved 577 people last summer, assisted 1543 people to safety and had zero drownings between the flags, we have a long way to go in reducing New Zealand's shocking beach & coastal fatal drowning toll. Our work is never–ending as we know active patrols saves lives during summer and our emergency call-out squads are needed all year.

That's why more than ever, we need your support to help us reduce the drowning toll on our beaches and coastline as well as continue with our patrols. Our vision is “no-one drowns on our beaches.” This is what drives us. Together we can achieve this.

We're recognised for our beach patrolling service and emergency response which saves and assists thousands of people every year, but your contribution allows us to provide so much more - invest in research, education and beach safety communications because we believe that prevention is key to saving lives.

It’s your generosity that helps us. We are a charity, and the important work we do is only made possible with your support.
