More information about SLSNZ High Performance pool rescue and the 2020 EOI:
Although international lifesaving events have been heavily disrupted by COVID-19, development and retention of aspiring NZ pool rescue athletes with international competitive potential will ensure New Zealand is ready to take the stage at future international lifesaving events.
SLSNZ High Performance (pool rescue) Squad activities will include regular communications (such as information and education), access to coaching support, assistance with personal performance planning, and may include activities such as technical development workshops and camps.
The purpose of the EOI is primarily to:
- Assist selectors to understand which athletes aspire to represent New Zealand in Lifesaving Sport; and
- Assist the process of confirming athlete eligibility before selection announcements are made; and
- Although EOI submission is highly recommended, athletes who do not submit an EOI may still be considered for selection, as per Selection Policy.
Note: Athletes currently in the SLSNZ High Performance Squad do NOT need to re-submit an EOI.
Athletes should refer to the current SLSNZ - Sport Policy Statement SPS014 for eligibility and selection criteria information.
