The Mount Maunganui Lifeguard Service is situated approximately 20 minutes from Tauranga in the sunny Bay of Plenty. The Mt Maunganui clubhouse is at the base of Mauao on the "Mount" main beach, where lifeguards are responsible for patrolling 10 kilometres of coastline.

Mt Maunganui Main Beach is patrolled on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays between 26 October 2019 and 13 April 2020. Volunteer lifeguards patrol from 11:00am to 4:00pm on Saturdays and 10:00am to 4:00pm on Sundays from 26 October 2019 to 1 December 2019. Between 1 December 2019 and 9 February 2020 hours are extended to 10:00am to 6:00pm all weekend. From the 10 February 2020 to 1 March 2020 lifeguards patrol from 11:00am to 4:00pm on Saturdays and 10:00am to 4:00pm on Sundays. From 1 March 2020 and 13 April 2020 patrol hours are from 11:00am to 4:00pm all weekend.
A Regional Lifeguard Service operates from 10:00am to 6:00pm from 9 December 2019 to 28 February 2020.
