New Aon Club Referral Scheme Creates Fundraising Opportunity for Surf Life Saving Clubs

Surf Life Saving New Zealand and Aon have joined forces to launch a new initiative aimed at helping clubs generate sustainable fundraising income through their local business and community networks.

When new business appoints Aon, they’ll give 15% of their fee to a nominated Surf Life Saving club, creating an additional revenue stream for clubs while connecting businesses with trusted insurance and risk advice from Aon.

The initiative has been developed in response to the growing financial pressures faced by many clubs and provides a simple way for members, supporters, and local businesses to contribute to the long-term sustainability of Surf Life Saving in their communities.

Surf Life Saving New Zealand CEO Steve Fisher said the scheme represented an exciting opportunity to help clubs strengthen their financial position while leveraging the strong relationships they already have within their local communities.

"Our clubs are the foundation of Surf Life Saving in New Zealand, and we know many are working hard to balance increasing costs while continuing to deliver outstanding services to their communities.

The Aon Club Referral Scheme provides another avenue for clubs to generate meaningful income, using the networks and relationships they have already built over many years. Every dollar returned through the scheme can be reinvested into saving lives, supporting volunteers, maintaining facilities, and growing club capability.

We're delighted to be working alongside Aon on an initiative that delivers real value for clubs and helps support the future sustainability of Surf Life Saving across New Zealand."

Under the programme, club members, supporters, and local businesses can nominate their Surf Life Saving club if they appoint Aon as their insurance broker. Aon will then give 15% of their fee to the nominated club as a fundraising contribution.

Aon New Zealand CEO Melissa Cantell said the programme reflected Aon's commitment to supporting the organisations and communities that make a difference across New Zealand.

"Surf Life Saving clubs play a vital role in communities throughout New Zealand, and we are proud to partner with Surf Life Saving New Zealand on a programme that helps create additional support for those clubs.

Through the Aon Club Referral Scheme, we're able to provide businesses and individuals with access to Aon's insurance and risk expertise while also delivering a tangible benefit back to the clubs that work tirelessly to keep New Zealanders safe around the water.

We look forward to seeing the positive impact this initiative can have for clubs and the communities they serve."

Surf Life Saving New Zealand will support the rollout of the programme through a dedicated team of staff champions and a suite of promotional resources to help clubs introduce the initiative to their members, supporters, and local businesses.

The Aon Club Referral Scheme will be promoted nationally through Surf Life Saving New Zealand's communication channels, with clubs encouraged to explore how the programme can be incorporated into their existing fundraising and community engagement activities.
