Surf Life Saving New Zealand (SLSNZ) is thrilled to announce Bed Bath & Beyond has donated an incredible $75,779 for the 2022/23 season.

This marked the ninth year of the partnership between Bed Bath & Beyond and SLSNZ, highlighting the enduring commitment of Bed Bath & Beyond to raising public awareness about water safety and the crucial work of Surf Lifeguards.  In that time Bed Bath & Beyond has donated $321,000 to SLSNZ.

During the 2022/23 season, Surf Lifeguards patrolled 92 beaches, dedicated over 221,000 hours on duty, and ultimately saved 1,249 lives.

SLSNZ Head of Commercial and Marketing, Jo Clark, said, “This season was particularly challenging as our Surf Lifeguards were not only on the frontline patrolling beaches but also responding to a state of emergency following Cyclone Gabrielle.  Bed Bath & Beyond’s unwavering support is instrumental in supporting out Clubs and lifeguards to carry out this work and respond to these incidents.”

The generous donation was made possible through the sale of Surf Lifesaving-themed towels sold exclusively at Bed Bath & Beyond stores throughout summer.  All proceeds from the purchase of these towels went to SLSNZ, furthering emphasising Bed Bath & Beyond’s dedication to making a positive impact in the community.

Bed Bath & Beyond General Manager, Guy Hunt, said, “We’re delighted to have raised this money for SLSNZ which in turn brings a positive change to the lives of so many New Zealanders.  We are proud to work alongside SLSNZ and look forward to making a difference in the years to come.”
