Black Fins Team Announced

Surf Lifesaving New Zealand is very excited to name the 12 person Black Fins team to compete at the Lifesaving World Championships in 2022.

The Team, consisting of six females and six males, will compete in the National Open Teams division in a total of 47 events over six days across pool rescue, ocean and beach disciplines.

“After a disruptive couple of years where our athletes have worked tirelessly to ensure they are in a position to add to the Black Fins legacy at the Lifesaving World Champs, the group is fizzing to pull on the Black Cap”, Campaign Lead Daniel Grant says.

He adds, “the excitement from our new caps alongside the experience of our capped athletes, the team is looking forward to representing our country, family and clubs on the world stage again.”

The National Teams Championships will be held in Riccione, Italy from September 27 – October 2.

  • Molly Shivnan - Omanu
  • Michael Hanna - Waikanae
  • Briana Irving – Waikanae
