Surf Life Saving New Zealand Acknowledges Fatality at Kariaotahi Beach, Waiuku

Surf lifeguards from the Kariaotahi Search & Rescue Squad were notified by SurfCom of two people in trouble in the water around 4.45pm on Tuesday 23rd November 2021.

One person was found safe, and the lifeguards assisted in the rescue and attempted resuscitation of a teenage female. The patient was later pronounced deceased at the scene. The incident happened outside of patrol hours.

We would like to acknowledge the tragic death of this young woman and offer our sincere condolences to the friends and family of the deceased.

Surf Life Saving NZ give thanks to the Kariaotahi lifeguards and St John paramedics involved.
