SLSNZ Acknowledges Fatality at Waiwera Beach, Waiwera

Police notified SurfCom following reports of five people in distress at Waiwera Beach on the 26th of December. Lifeguards from Orewa Surf Life Saving Club were called out to respond to the situation.

Local paddle-boarders assisted with the rescue of four of the group, and Lifeguards were able to locate the fifth person with the help of the Police Eagle Helicopter. The man was taken to shore, where Lifeguards performed CPR until St Johns Paramedics declared the patient deceased.

Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this extremely distressing time.
