Surf Life Saving New Zealand acknowledges death at Seatoun, Wellington

On January 11, 2020, emergency services were called to Seatoun Wharf, Wellington after a man got into trouble in the water.

Police were alerted to the incident at 8.35pm.

The man was transported to Wellington Hospital in a critical condition and died a short time later. His death will be referred to the Coroner.

The incident occurred at a non-lifeguarded beach.

Surf Life Saving New Zealand acknowledges the emergency services and members of the public who were called to the scene and assisted.

Surf Life Saving New Zealand’s Coastal Safety team will work with emergency services to establish the circumstances.
