Just before 3pm on Thursday December 26, 2019, seasonally employed and off-duty volunteer Surf Lifeguards from Surf Life Saving New Zealand were called to two men caught in a rip at Onemana Beach, on the Coromandel Peninsula.

Surf Life Saving New Zealand, Maritime New Zealand and the Kiwi Association of Sea Kayakers (KASK) wants people who get on the water this summer to stop and think before they use an inflatable vessel.

Mangawhai Heads volunteers claim third place in national Surf Life Saving award
