SLSNZ Regional Lifeguard Vacancies:

Supervisors, Head, Senior & Junior Regional Lifeguards

We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic lifeguards who enjoy working as part of a team to keep our beaches and their users safe. Surf Life Saving New Zealand operates Regional Lifeguard Services through all 3 of its Regions (Eastern, Central, Southern), locations and coverage varies from beach to beach.

To apply for a Regional Lifeguard Service Role you must have a current SLSNZ Surf Lifeguard Award (or overseas equivalent) and Level 1 First Aid Certificate (Unit Standards 6400, 6401 & 6402). You will be working either as a team leader or part of a team, we encourage our guards to create a motivated, proactive and enjoyable environment to deliver a safe lifeguarding service. Generally all Regional Lifeguard Services operate over the peak New Zealand summer holiday period and contracts can vary from seasonal fulltime to partime fill in lifeguards.

Regional Lifeguard Assessment & Dates 2018-2019

Regional Lifeguard Assessments are generally for 1st and 2nd year Regional Lifeguards, once you have submitted your application you will either be offered a Conditional Offer (returning lifeguards only) or invited to complete an assessment, you can also choose an out of Region Assessment.

The Regional Lifeguard Assessment for the 2018/2019 will comprise of the following:

  • 400m Pool Swim
  • 3km Road Run
  • Junior/Senior Theory Assessment
  • Team or Individual Personality Assessment

Eastern Region Assessment Dates/Venues

  • Gisborne: Saturday 20 October 2018, 9:30am, Olympic Pool Complex, Gisborne
  • Coromandel: Saturday 27 October 2018, 9:30am, Whangamata Community Pool, Whangamata
  • Bay of Plenty: Sunday 28 October 2018, 9:30am, Mt Maunganui College Pool, Mt Maunganui

Central Region   Assessment Dates/Venues

  • Wellington: Sunday 26 August 2018, 9:30am, Coastlands Aquatic Centre
  • Taranaki: Saturday 1 September 2018, 9:30am, Todd Energy Aquatic Centre
  • Hawkes Bay: Sunday 2 September 2018, 9:30am, Ocean Spa Napier

Southern Region   Assessment Dates/Venues

  • Christchurch: Saturday 1 September 2018, 9:00am, Taiora QE2 Recreation and Sport Centre
  • Dunedin: Friday 7 September 2018, 6:00pm, Moana Pool, Dunedin
  • Christchurch: Saturday 20 October 2018 9:00am, Taiora QE2 Recreation and Sport Centre
