Surf Life Saving New Zealand (SLSNZ) is saddened to advise that dedicated long-time member Alan Franich has passed away.
After enrolling his children into the surf club in the 1970s, he became part of the senior management team and worked hard to boost the club's visibility in the community.
Alan had success as a surf sport coach, and led many teams to victory in regional and national competitions. He was also a widely respected surf official in the surf boat arena, and famously known for lining up surf boat crews on time for their races.
Everyone at SLSNZ passes on their sincere condolences to Alan's friends, family, fellow Orewa SLSC club members and everyone who knew him at this difficult time.
