BP to donate IRB to deserving Surf Life Saving Club
Tuesday, 3 April 2018We're excited to announce that our major partner BP is once again donating an IRB, with all the trimmings, to a deserving Surf Life Saving Club.
This prize is worth approximately $25,000 and includes an IRB hull, Mercury engine, trailer, fuel bladder, rescue tube, two PFDs, two helmets and a $100 BP gift card.
To be eligible, clubs need to tell us how a new BP Surf Rescue IRB will benefit their club and community.
Entries must be submitted before 8am on Monday April 16 and there can only be one entry per club.
Four finalists- one from each region- will be announced shortly after that.
Every year BP donates an IRB to one lucky club as well as providing a $500 BP gift card to all 74 clubs to assist with their running costs. They also recognise the skills of our Surf Lifeguards with $6,000 worth of BP gift cards for clubs in our BP Rescue of the Month and BP Rescue of the Year awards and support the BP Leaders for Life programme, helping to develop future leaders.
These programmes alone amount to $150,000 annually and this year, as we celebrated our 50 year milestone partnership, BP also raised $459,050 for Surf Life Saving New Zealand thorough the Every Litre Counts campaign which saw eight members win a year's free fuel and $10,000 cash for their club.
