Lifeguard skills to be captured this summer

Friday, 29 December 2017

Sony is proud to be a partner of Surf Life Saving New Zealand's national sports events this coming summer, showcasing the skills that are required for lifeguards to perform at their best.

The two organisations have teamed up to snap footage of the action in the water utilising Sony's waterproof Action Cams and 4K Handycam camcorders at various championships from now until April 2018.

These championships are a chance for athletes to display their skills on a national platform. All of the athletes competing are qualified surf lifeguards who will be out patrolling New Zealand's beaches this summer.

Surf Life Saving New Zealand sport manager Mike Lord welcomes the relationship.

"We are looking forward to using Sony's great products to help us showcase some of the best surf sport athletes from around New Zealand.

"We hope the footage captured will provide Kiwis with greater insight into the sporting side of surf lifesaving and seeing the level of skill and fitness that is required for lifeguards to perform at their best," he says.

The images and videos taken by Surf Live Saving New Zealand will be shared on its Facebook and Instagram pages.

Sony New Zealand general manager Sam Duncan says: "We are delighted to provide Surf Life Saving New Zealand with Action Cams and 4K Handycam camcorders this summer to help them record athletes competing in the championships."

"With a number of competitions fast approaching, we are looking forward to seeing what incredible moments they manage to capture and share."
