Surf Life Saving New Zealand is calling on lifeguards who want to hone their advanced skills to gain the top honour for lifeguarding in New Zealand.
Applications for the 2016 National Lifeguard School, which will take place from December 2-4 at Whangamata, are now open.
The National Lifeguard School is something that lifeguards aspire to. It combines dynamic theory sessions with a number of intensive practical and scenario based activities extending participants both physically and mentally.
An advanced lifeguard should be able to demonstrate good communication and leadership skills, demonstrate a high level of physical fitness and be capable of coping with a variety of complex situations.
If you successfully complete a National Lifeguard School with all the required prerequisites you will be awarded your Advanced Lifeguard Award - the highest award for surf lifeguards in New Zealand.
