BP IRB donation gives clubs the chance to win a new rescue boat

BP's bright orange Inflatable Rescue Boats (IRB) have become a very familiar sight on New Zealand beaches and this year, BP is donating another IRB to a deserving Surf Life Saving Club.

The BP IRB will come complete with all the trimmings - an engine, trailer, fuel bladder, two personal flotation devices and $100 worth of fuel.

BP has been partnering with Surf Life Saving New Zealand for 48 years and it is a sponsorship that is about so much more than just fuel.

As well as providing all 74 Surf Life Saving Clubs with a $500 BP Gift card at the start of each season, they also reward BP Rescue of the Month winners with gift cards and they helped us launch the BP Leaders for Life programme.

More than 60% of the rescues undertaken each season involve an IRB, so they're integral tool in helping Surf Lifeguards to save lives.

At a cost of around $25,000, BP knows it's not easy to fundraise for a new IRB. That's why they're giving Surf Life Saving Clubs around New Zealand the opportunity to win a brand new one.

To enter, clubs need to share their story and explain how a BP IRB would benefit the club and local community.

A panel of judges will select the top five entries. From those top five entries, BP staff from all around the country will vote for the winner. The winning club will be notified in March.

Entries close 11.59pm on Sunday February 28, 2016. Click here to enter and access terms and conditions.
