Nominations invited for induction to Sports Hall of Fame

Wednesday, 14 October 2015

Surf Life Saving New Zealand is inviting nominations for induction into the Sports Hall of Fame for the era of 1991-2010.

The SLSNZ Hall of Fame was established in 1990 with 15 people inducted. Second and third inductions were then completed in 1995 and 2007.

The objective of the Hall of Fame is 'to acknowledge outstanding competitive performances by members of our organisation so that their achievements in surf sport are not forgotten and can inspire future generations'.

Because Surf Sport covers a wide range of events and disciplines, it is anticipated that for an individual or team to be nominated for the Hall of Fame they will have met the threshold of "outstanding competitive performance" in the 'Open/Premier' divisions of Championships or events held.

A nominee's era is determined by the date that they last competed at the New Zealand Championships or retired, whichever is the later.

There are no limitations on the number of nominations that can be made or to the number of awards that can be allocated in any induction.

Nominations must be completed using the nomination form and be sent to SLSNZ CEO Paul Dalton via email before Friday April 8, 2016.

All nominations will be considered by the Hall of Fame Committee. Successful nominees will be asked to confirm the details of their nomination before being presented with their awards at an appropriate occasion.
