Surf Life Saving New Zealand is pleased to announce the successful applicants for the roles of New Zealand Surf Boat Selectors and New Zealand Surf Boat Team Manager for the coming season.

The three selectors are Craig Dillon from Red Beach, Neil Watts from Rarangi and Shane Radovanovich from Paekakariki.

They will be charged with the selection of one Open Men's crew, one Open Women's crew and a Men's and Women's Under 23 Development crew to race at the Surf Boat test against Australia at the ASRL Open in Shellharbour from February 19-21, 2016.

Craig has been a national selector for three years and has competed at the top level in Surf Boats for over 25 years. He has also competed regularly at Surf Boat events in New Zealand and throughout Australia. "I feel now is an ideal opportunity to share the skills and knowledge I've picked up and to pass onto others," he says.

Neil swept the NZ Development crew last season and has been involved with Surf Boats for a long time. He is a current member of the National Surf Boat Advisory Group.

Shane has over 30 years' experience in the Surf Boat arena as both a rower and sweep. He has been a national selector for three years, as well as time on the national Surf Boat Advisory Committee, and time as a tutor at national surf sweep schools. "Successful stints in New Zealand test teams as well as time sweeping for Noosa Heads in Australia has provided me with great insight into what is required to compete and win against international opponents," he says

Omanu's Clayton Kellett has been reappointed as Surf Boat Team Manager. He will be responsible for leading the preparation and performance of athletes to the ASRL Open in February.

As team manager for 2014-15, he has the experience of being part of a national team and the competitive aspects of a test arena.

"I have a passion for Surf Boats and a desire to be a part of a team that will have objectives and goals to succeed in performing to their best when representing New Zealand," he says.

The Surf Boat crews for the ASRL Open will be selected on January 2, 2016 following the Whangamata Surf Boat event.
