Surf Life Saving New Zealand is currently conducting a full review and update of our Junior Surf Programme, Surf Lifesaving Certificate and Rookie Lifeguard Award programme.
As part of our Member Education development plan, updating the current Junior Surf programme is one of the priority projects to be completed during this year's off-season and as such, we have employed a short term contractor to deliver the updated Junior Surf programme.
Shelley Morris will be working alongside a new Junior Surf Advisory Group which has been established to provide knowledge, feedback and advice throughout the project.
Shelley comes from a Lifeguarding and Surf Sport background with Ocean Beach Kiwi in Hawke's Bay. She is a secondary school teacher, has worked with NZQA and is a graphic designer.
She will undertake a number of tasks including updating and reviewing the current Junior Surf programme to meet the needs of the current junior surf environment. This updated programme will be refocused to include better linkages and content for both lifesaving and sport.
The final Junior Surf programme is expected to be completed by October 1, 2015.
