Dear Clubs,

This memo contains information and updates regarding sport.

New Zealand Surf Boat Team

Congratulations to the men's crew from Titahi Bay and women's crew from Red Beach who were both selected in Whangamata to represent New Zealand. They will race at the Australia Surf Rowers League Open in Stockton, New South Wales on the 8th and 9th of February. On the Saturday they'll take on Australia in the black vests of New Zealand and on Sunday both crews have been invited to represent their clubs. Clayton Kellett was also selected as Team Manager in Whangamata I'd like to thank him and the clubs for all their help organising this trip. On behalf of everyone in the Surf Life Saving New Zealand community, we wish you well for your trip and taking on the Aussies.

Under 14 New Zealand Surf Life Saving Championships - Oceans 2014

Planning for Oceans 2014 is well under way. This will be held at Mt Maunganui from 20th - 23rd February. Entries are now open at www.surflifesaving.org.nz/oceans2014. The closing date for entries is Friday 7 February at 5pm.
Surf Life Saving New Zealand will be holding an Ironman/Ironwoman Exhibition Series at Oceans 2014. A number of athletes have been invited to showcase the sport to Oceans competitors and their supporters and inspire the younger athletes. A good mix of athletes have been invited from the SLSNZ high performance programmes, some good emerging talent, international competitors based in New Zealand and representatives from all four regions. The races will be held over three rounds in a fast paced format designed for plenty
of action in the wave zone. A list of athletes who have accepted the invitation and more detailed information on the event will available closer to the time.

2014 New Zealand Surf Life Saving Championships

'Nationals' will be held at Ohope on 6 - 9 March 2014. Entries are now open and can be found at www.surflifesaving.org.nz/nationals14. Entries close at 5pm Tuesday 25 February. This closing date is different to the date on the entry circular that was distributed last week (date on the entry circular was Friday 25 February).

2014 BP Surf Rescue Championships

An IRB Nationals entry circular will be sent out with more information next week and entries will also open then.
Finally, all the best to everyone involved in the Eastern Regional Championships this weekend in Whangamata.
