A message from our Patron

Thursday, 30 January 2014

Surf Life Saving New Zealand's Patron, and the Governor-General of New Zealand, Lt Gen The Rt Hon Sir Jerry Mateparae is proudly supporting the Surf Life Saving national street collection.

He sent us the following letter with his support...

Kia Ora,

The beach is one of New Zealand's favourite playgrounds.  Every year around 80 of our beaches are made safer by the presence of volunteer lifeguards from Surf Life Saving New Zealand.  The nationwide education programme, which helps around 34,000 school children become smarter and more aware in the surf every year, also helps to keep people safe.

As Patron, I am proud of the work Surf Life Saving New Zealand does, and the contribution its surf lifeguards make in ensuring our long summer days at the beach are safe and happy.

I'm supporting their Summer Appeal collection day this Friday 31 January and I hope you are too.

Lt Gen The Rt Hon Sir Jerry Mateparae, GNZM QSO
