Passing of Helen Velvin

Surf Life Saving New Zealand would like to offer its heartfelt condolences to the Velvin family following the passing of Taranaki Life Member Helen.

It was with great sadness that we learnt she passed away in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Helen was a wonderfully warm-hearted figure on the beach. She was one of our long time officials that worked behind the scenes making things happen.

She was a proud clubbie and a beautiful lady who touched so many.

On behalf of everyone in the Surf Life Saving movement, our sympathies and condolences go out to her husband Brian, their son Todd, their daughter Deidre and their wider family and friends at this tough time.

Helen's funeral will be held in Taranaki tomorrow and will be attended by representatives of Surf Life Saving New Zealand.
