SLSNZ Staff Changes

The last month has been a rather hectic one on the personnel front, so it is important to keep you up to date with the recent and impending changes.

SLSNZ Farewells

Matt Williams
Role: CDO - Coromandel
Transferred in August to Northern Region to take up the role of Portfolio Manager.
Matt's role was advertised and Jacob Davies (as below) was the successful applicant and has now taken up this position.

Mark Weatherall
Role: General Manager - Club Development
Left on 28  August 2013 to become the CEO of Canoe Racing NZ
Mark's role is not being replaced and the three Regional Managers will now report directly to CEO Paul Dalton.

Andy Kent
Role: Lifesaving Services and Education Manager
Left on 18 September 2013 to become the Lifesaving Manager for Surf Life Saving NSW, based in Sydney.
Andy's role has been advertised and Brent Harvey (as below) has now taken up this position.

Tim Marsden
Role: Regional Manager - Central Region
Leaving 27 September 2013 to become the Learning & Development Manager for KiwiRail/ Interislander.
This role is being re-advertised and it is hoped an appointment can be made by the end of October.  In the meantime, interim arrangements will be in place to provide oversight the Central Region team.  These will be advised to Central Region clubs by the end of the week.

Appointments 

Scott Roberts
Previous role: Acting Programmes & Services Manager - Southern Region
New role: Programmes & Services Manager - Southern Region
This role was advertised and Scotty was the successful applicant for the permanent appointment.

Jacob Davies
Previous role: Club Development Officer - Christchurch.
New role: Club Development Officer - Coromandel.
This role was advertised and Jacob was the successful applicant.

Henry Lawson
New role: Club Development Officer - Christchurch
Starts Monday 30 September 2013, taking over from Jacob Davies who has moved to Eastern Region.
This role was advertised and Henry was the successful applicant.

Brent Harvey
Previous role: Regional Programmes and Services Manager - Central Region
New role: Lifesaving Services and Education Manager.
This role was advertised and Brent was the successful applicant. Brent takes over on 23  September but there will be a period of transition through until the appointment of a new Central Region Programmes & Services Manager.

Matt Warren
Previous role: Grants, Fundraising and Projects Manager (contract).
New role:  Grants, Fundraising and Projects Manager (permanent).
Matt continues in this role which has now switched from being a contract position into a permanent role.  The contract role was created as an amalgamation of responsibilities from several previous roles that have dis-established including Fundraising Manager, GM Corporate Services and Projects Manager and will also include some tasks from the GM Club Development role. 
The role was advertised in September and Matt was the successful applicant.

Ange Johnson
Additional Responsibilities:  Event Safety Co-ordinator (part time).
Ange has taken on the oversight of the event safety work previous co-ordinated by Shaun Smith.

Seasonal Roles

As we head into summer we welcome back:

  • Alan Coates - in his traditional Event Logistics role based at Mt Maunganui.
  • Jamie Troughton - continuing his world class reporting on our sports events on a freelance basis.
  • Netta Cagney - after helping us out at peak times over the year Netta will join us for the university holidays in an Admin Support role at National Office.

Other Points

Having graduated from university, Nick Mulcahy has set up his own consulting business (Coastal Research Limited).  On a project basis we have Nick/ Coastal Research Ltd working for us to achieve some key outcomes on our Coastal Public Safety Project and completing work we have contracted to do for ACC on Marine and River environments.
