Clubbies compete at ICF Canoe Marathon World Championships
Thursday, 12 September 2013Eleven clubbies will join over 400 of the world's best kayakers and canoeists next week when they compete at the International Canoe Federation's (ICF) Canoe Marathon World Championship in Denmark.
The event takes place on Lake Bagsvaerd in Copenhagen from September 20-22.
For Orewa Surf Life Saving Club's Teneale Hatton, the competition comes hot off the back of the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships in Germany where she won gold in the K1 5000m.
The world champs will also be visited by a special guest, Danish Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark. He will visit on the first day of competition to follow the races and present the medals to the winners in the Under 23 men's division where South Brighton's Alex Fort and Ryan Quickenden will be racing.
