Charity partnership announced at first Phoenix match of the season

Friday, 11 October 2013

Surf Life Saving New Zealand will be officially announced as the charity partner to the Wellington Phoenix this weekend at the team's first match of the season.

The Wellington Phoenix will play against the Brisbane Roar on Sunday (October 13) at Westpac stadium in Wellington.

Dressed in her lifeguard uniform, Surf Life Saving New Zealand Club Development Officer Zoë Canvin will enter the stadium via the Life Flight helicopter and place the match ball near the player's tunnel as the partnership is announced.

Surf Life Saving New Zealand was confirmed as the official charity partner to the Wellington Phoenix Football Club in June.

Surf Life Saving New Zealand CEO Paul Dalton says "we're delighting to be working in partnership with a team who has similar values when it comes to connecting with the community. We look forward to building an on-going relationship with the Phoenix and their strong fan base," he says.

This two-year partnership with New Zealand's only Hyundai A-League football team will see a number of exciting initiatives designed to mutually drive key safety messages through this arrangement between two organisations with strong links to summer.
