Dear Clubs

Further request for bids from clubs to host the 2014/15 BP Surf Rescue Championship events

On November 14 the bid process to find hosts for the two nationally co-ordinated IRB events closed. The event details are:

1. BP Surf Rescue North Island Championships, December 6-7, 2014
2. BP Surf Rescue New Zealand Championships, March 28-29, 2015

Unfortunately there were no bids from clubs to host either of these events.

We definitely want these events in the 2014/15 calendar, so if any clubs are interested in hosting either event, could you please contact us as soon as possible before noon on Friday December 6, 2013. After this time we will look to make an announcement regarding these events.

Change to BP Surf Rescue North Island Championships personnel

I am thrilled to announce that Haley McMahon has been contracted as Event Manager for the BP Surf Rescue North Island Championships. Haley picks up the outstanding job Ange Johnston has completed in the lead-up to this event. Haley has extensive event management experience having completed the Event Manager role for Surf Life Saving New Zealand previously, and has most recently been completing the same role for Surf Life Saving Australia. In the Event Referee role, Dave Shanks has kindly agreed to take over from Johnny Clough, who is unfortunately no longer available. Johnny has been working closely with our Event Managers in organising this event, and has kindly volunteered to continue to help out in the lead up to the event to ensure a smooth transition with Dave.

Central Regional Championships

Recently the Central Region team contacted SLSNZ Clubs regarding their interest in the Central Region Championships. Due to strong support from clubs, we are delighted to confirm the Championship event will be going ahead. The event is scheduled for January 11-12 2013 at Oakura Beach, New Plymouth.
