New Member Development Manager announced

Friday, 1 November 2013

Surf Life Saving New Zealand is pleased to announce that Belinda Slement has been appointed as the Member Development Manager, to be based at the National Office in Wellington.

This is the main role being created as a result of not replacing the GM Club Development role. Belinda will report to Brent Harvey as Lifesaving Services and Education Manager and also work very closely with Bradley Simpson as Sport Manager.

Belinda has a very strong background in surf, hailing originally from Gisborne (Wainui SLSC) and then Hawkes Bay (Pacific SLSC) and Paekakariki - as a sport competitor, lifeguard, Regional Lifeguard, instructor, Beach Ed instructor, committee member and examiner.

Most recently (and for the last five years) she has been the National Learn to Swim Manager with Swimming NZ, managing the delivery of the State Kiwi Swim Safe programme in over 980 schools nationwide. She has also been a swim school manager and is a qualified swimming instructor and coach.

Surf Life Saving New Zealand CEO Paul Dalton says "it's hard to imagine getting a more suitable candidate for the Member Development role and I am sure you will join me in welcoming Belinda to the SLSNZ team."

Belinda will finish with Swimming NZ just before Christmas and start her new role with Surf Life Saving New Zealand on January 15, 2014. We are working with Swimming NZ to ensure as smooth a transition as possible.
