Tuesday, 14 May 2013

The first of Surf Life Saving's regional Awards of Excellence ceremonies kicks-off this weekend with the 2013 Origin Energy Surf Life Saving Awards of Excellence Taranaki. It will be held at the Fitzroy Surf Life Saving Club on Saturday.

The Awards of Excellence ceremonies celebrate the Surf Life Saving season and its members' achievements.

Surf Life Saving New Zealand Regional Manager Tim Marsden says it takes a lot of commitment to be a lifeguard and the awards being presented on Saturday are proof of that.

The three big awards for the night will be the Origin Energy Volunteer of the Year, Origin Energy Rescue of the Year and Origin Energy Innovation of the Year.

Also up for grabs will be the Stirling Sports Club of the Year, Shell Todd Oil Services Lifeguard of the Year, Coach of the Year and Sportsperson of the Year.
