Surf Life Saving New Zealand (SLSNZ) is pleased to announce Steve Vaughan has been appointed as the High Performance Assistant Team Manager of the New Zealand Open Team.
The Assistant Team Manager position was re-established to create a larger pool of potential candidates for the Open Team Manager role.
Steve joins Coach Scott Bartlett, Assistant Coach Jason Pocock, Physiotherapist Susan Perrit and Manager Mark Weatherall to complete the New Zealand Management Team.
Steve brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role, having been the Team Manager for Mairangi Bay and other regional teams.
SLSNZ Sport Manager Bradley Simpson says he is really looking forward to working with Steve in helping to ensure our teams perform at their best in the pool and on the beach. "Steve brings considerable experience and success in managing club and regional surf lifesaving teams. I believe he will be able to develop these further as well as gaining international experience that will pay dividends in the lead up to, and at, Rescue 2014 and beyond," he says.
The Open Team will be competing in the International Surf Rescue Challenge in Japan in September.
Steve starts his new role immediately. Please join us in wishing him all the best.
