Local Activity Calendars now available for download
Monday, 1 July 2013The 2013-2014 Local Activity Calendars are now available for download here: www.surflifesaving.org.nz/activitycalendars.
The local activity calendars are printable Excel spreadsheets that you as a Clubbie or Club Admin can download and print easily. The calendar contains all the courses and events in your local area. It is in this format so that a club or club member can modify it to suit their needs. A club can take a copy of the online calendar and delete anything that is not relevant to them or their Clubbies, they can then add any club specific information as they require e.g. refresher days, social events etc.
While we will try our hardest to avoid any unnecessary changes, there will inevitably be some that occur due to circumstances beyond our control. To ensure that Clubbies are aware of any changes, the calendar will have a version number and date it was modified so the online version is always displaying the latest information. Any changes will also be communicated to clubs via the CDO in their update.
As well as the activity calendars, the SLSNZ Online Calendar has each individual sport/development events from all the local activity calendars. This is the area where you will find the latest information, programmes, entry information, course details and event information flyers.
The calendar can be easily filtered to find the information you are looking for. Click here to view how to use online calendar.
Course Costs
It is important to note there will be a user pays component for most of the courses on offer. This is necessary to allow us to deliver the training opportunities for our members and is consistent across the country. SLSNZ will invoice clubs according to how many members register and are accepted on to the course. It is then up to each club to decide if you will pass this cost on to your members.
If a member is accepted on to a course and fails to attend or complete the requirements of that course, SLSNZ will invoice the club for the full cost of the course.
If a club would like to apply for funding to cover the user pays component, SLSNZ can supply quotes to support your funding application.

How to book on to a Course
Bookings will only be accepted by a club contact on the correct booking form - download word version (191kb), download PDF version (27kb)
All course booking forms should be filled out correctly and submitted to the local area CDO by the cut off course that is advertised. Should a course be oversubscribed this gives me the opportunity to work with the club contact to determine the best people who should attend.
All members who book onto a course should have the necessary prerequisites, this will be checked and members will be turned away if they do not meet the minimum standard.
Courses will not go ahead unless the minimum numbers are reached. More detail on prerequisites and minimum numbers can be found here.
We would encourage you to make regular contact with your members to let them know what opportunities are available to them.
If you need a hand identifying the best members for these courses or have questions, please contact your local Club Development Officer.
