Thrifty Car Rental has today announced a long-term partnership with Surf Life Saving New Zealand (SLSNZ).
As part of the partnership, Thrifty will supply SLSNZ with nine 4WD vehicles. The vehicle donation will allow SLSNZ to redirect over $100,000 towards training lifeguards and supporting Surf Life Saving Clubs nationwide to save more lives.
The partnership will also see Thrifty help raise much-needed funds for Surf Life Saving through internal fundraising events, providing special car rental offers to Surf Life Saving Clubs and members, and supporting Surf Life Saving's Summer and Winter Appeals.
Thrifty NZ General Manager Emma Gardiner said the partnership is a great fit for two high profile brands that are committed to helping local communities across the country.
"Surf Life Saving New Zealand is an iconic organisation that provides a vital service to people and communities all over New Zealand," Ms Gardiner said.
"Not only will this partnership allow us to help a wonderful cause, but it's our chance to proactively give back to the communities and customers we serve in a really meaningful way," she said.
SLSNZ CEO Paul Dalton said he's thrilled to partner with such a reputable brand and said Thrifty's support couldn't have come at a better time ahead of what is sure to be another bumper summer season.
"This is a really exciting opportunity for Surf Life Saving, and with Thrifty's strong focus on public and staff safety, it's fantastic we can unite our brands to help save more lives this summer," he said.
Surf Life Saving launched its Summer Appeal on December 6, which runs through until February 2, 2014. As a charity organisation, Surf Life Saving relies on the public's support to fund this essential rescue service to help keep people safe on New Zealand's beaches.
"Thrifty has already shown great interest in getting involved with our Summer Appeal and I know they will be a very valuable addition to our partner family," Mr Dalton said.
Mr Dalton said the funds raised during the Summer Appeal will be used to support a number of SLSNZ initiatives focussed on increasing the capability of frontline beach patrol operations, and making sure lifeguards are trained and equipped with the resources they need to save lives.
"Each year we have to train around a thousand new lifeguards, which is a big commitment of time and cost," Mr Dalton said.
The partnership will also offer Thrifty staff across the country the opportunity to engage and develop local relationships with SLSNZ clubs and assist them with local fundraising activities.
The partnership will be officially launched with a public activation in Auckland in the New Year.
