Halligan racing on in Nutri-Grain Iron Woman Series

Monday, 16 December 2013

New Zealand team member and Midway Surf Life Saving Club's Devon Halligan is placed 14th after rounds three to five of the Nutri-Grain Iron Woman Series in New South Wales over the weekend.

The women tagged as the ones to look out for in the series include Courtney Hancock along with Kristyl Smith and Liz Pluimers who are currently ranked in first, second and third places respectively.

Halligan had an unfortunate start to the series in rounds one and two which were held on November 30 and December 1 at Smiths Beach in Western Australia when an increased heart rate impacted on her performance.

She is sitting on 26 points. Hancock is sitting on 92 points, Pluimers on 85 points and Smith is on 75 points.

The series is one of Australia's most iconic events and is known for big wave locations and fast exhilarating racing.

Devon was one of the top women qualifiers for the series after the trials held at Salt Beach in Northern New South Wales from September 14-15. It's the second time she has taken part in the series.

This season's series is being fought out over six rounds. The final round will take place on February 23, 2014 at Coolum Beach on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.
