University of Waikato's Sir Edmund Hillary Scholarship

Applications for the University of Waikato's Sir Edmund Hillary Scholarship for 2014 are now open.

The purpose of the scholarship is to provide support for students to achieve a high academic standard in a programme of study at the University of Waikato, excellence in a sporting code (or the creative or performing arts) and to develop leadership qualities through a tailored leadership and personal development programme.

Many Surf Life Saving club members have successfully applied for scholarships in the past. The 2013 Sir Edmund Hillary Scholars included Mt Maunganui SLSC members Andrew Newton (Bachelor of Teaching) and Casey Stevens (Bachelor of Sport and Leisure Studies).
