Applications now open for PM scholarships

Applications are now open for Prime Minister's Scholarships for athletes, coaches and officials. Applications can be made on the SPARC website.

Athlete Scholarships

The goal of the programme is to assist talented and elite athletes achieve tertiary and vocational qualifications while pursuing excellence in sport.

The Prime Minister's Athlete Scholarship Programme is managed by SPARC. Scholarships are aligned to SPARC's High Performance Strategy 2006-2012 and must impact on SPARC's high performance mission of 'more Kiwi winners on the world stage.'

As part of the Prime Minister's Athlete Scholarship programme, athletes may have the chance to study after they are decarded and/or retire. This separate scholarship is known as the Prime Minister's Athlete Gold Level Scholarship.

The Programme supports fees up to $10,000 and a living allowance of up to $4,000 per year to successful scholarship recipients.

Applications for SLSNZ athletes close on Thursday 1 December 2011.

Prime Minister's Scholarships 2012 - Surf Lifesaving Criteria
  • Selected and competed for New Zealand at the 2010 World Championships
  • Selected and competed for New Zealand team(s) during 2011
  • A member of the 2011/12 World Championships Squad
  • Selected and competed for New Zealand Development team(s) during 2011 
  • A member of the 2011/12 Development Squad
  • Selected and competed for New Zealand team(s) prior to 2011
  • A member of High Performance Squads prior to 2011
Coach and Official Scholarships

The purpose of these scholarships is to develop skills that contribute to the quality of New Zealand's sport performance at the elite level.

The Prime Minister's Coach and Officials Scholarships are managed by SPARC on behalf of the Government. Scholarships are aligned to SPARC's High Performance Strategy 2006-2012 and must impact SPARC's high performance mission of 'more Kiwi winners on the world stage.'
