Course Overview
The Fuel Handling Module is a self-enrolled online learning module available for any member who handles fuel around their club or wants to achieve their IRB Crewperson Module.
The module provides vital information to ensure members and clubs are maintaining fuel compliance when storing and handling fuel, and when fueling the IRB fuel bladder, RWC or ATV.
Once completed, the module will be loaded against an individual member’s award record. The Fuel Handling Module is a prerequisite for the IRB Crewperson Module and IRB Driver.
Course Information
Prerequisites: 14 years of age | Current member of a SLS club
Duration: approx. 20mins
Delivered by: Online Module + Practical Fuel Handling assessment during IRB Crewperson Module
Who should complete it: Any members completing their IRB Crewperson Module
Candidate requirements: Successfully complete all components of the online module

Outcomes
At the completion of the module candidates will be able to:
- Identify fuel properties and the hazards it presents
- Explain how to store fuel
- Identify the contents of the fuel spill kit and how to use its contents to manage a spill
- Use the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required when handling fuel
- Take correct action in an emergency
- Follow procedure for filling an IRB fuel bladder or RWC
- Apply key safety considerations for refueling an ATV
