JUNIOR SURF MODULES
Say Yes to play
‘Say Yes to Play’ is a short online learning module to support parents and caregivers as they grow their knowledge of play and continue to inspire more play around them.
Working safely with children
Working safely with children is an online mini-series provided by Sport NZ to further support, parents, caregivers and coaches in providing safe environments for children to participate in sport.

Examiner Fundamentals Module
The purpose of this module is to inform examiners of their responsibilities when taking candidates through an SLSNZ Award assessments.
SEARCH & RESCUE
Search and Rescue (SAR) Induction Module
This module is part one of the induction process for SAR squad members. Members and those wanting to join SAR must complete this online module, then complete part two in person with their SAR squad coordinator.
Search and Rescue (SAR) Wellbeing Module
This module prepares Surf SAR Squad members to manage their own wellbeing and support others during and after critical incidents.
GOVERNANCE MODULES
SLSNZ - Governance Fundamentals
This course gives an easy-to-follow overview of governance for Surf Life Saving clubs. It’s open to all members, but is especially useful for anyone currently on, or interested in joining, a club’s board or committee.
You’ll learn how governance teams are formed, the different roles within them, and what your responsibilities are as a board or committee member. The course also covers the key legal requirements for Incorporated Societies, managing conflicts of interest, and your club’s reporting and compliance obligations.
SLSNZ - Governance Team Dynamics
This course delves into the fundamental concepts of governance team dynamics with emphasis on the significance of fostering effective teams within boards or committees.
Throughout the course, you will be provided with practical strategies and knowledge to enhance your team participation and make meaningful contributions to your club's success.
Thriving Under Fire
The TUF programme is an award winning programme used in retail and service industries that has been adapted for those involved with sport and recreation.
This course gives you the skills to deal with passionate (and sometimes difficult) people.
Digital Safety for the Play, Active Recreation and Sport Sector
In this module, you will learn about digital safety risks and discover practical everyday actions to reduce these risks for everyone.
TE AO MĀORI
Tū Te Wana: Cultural Capability
This Sport NZ course is for anyone who wants to build stronger connections with Maori communities, whether you work in play, active recreation, sport, education or community development. It's designed to help you feel more confident, capable and culturally aware in your everyday mahi.
INCLUSION AND AWARENESS
Inclusion: A Response to Discrimination
This module aims to help you understand what an inclusive, supportive and safe environment looks like and the impact of your actions on people.
Awareness of Rainbow Communities
This course will enable you to hear directly from rainbow tamariki and rangatahi about their experiences in sport and physical activity, develop a deeper understanding of how your actions can help them feel safe and included, and build your confidence to engage with these topics through a stronger understanding of key concepts and the correct use of language.
Inclusion of Rainbow Communities
This course builds on the concepts and topics in the ‘Awareness of Rainbow Communities’ course. It dives into practical solutions you can take to overcome discrimination, protect privacy and improve opportunities and support for rainbow rangatahi in sport and physical activity.
