Overview of Current Projects for SLSNZ

Volunteer Strategy & Survey

This year we’re conducting a nationwide survey of our 18000+ volunteers so we can better understand the experiences, ideas and needs of our members. We’ll be using the information we gather to develop a new strategy for the organisation that will more closely reflect our makeup.

Junior Surf Review

As part of the 2020 Junior Surf Programme Review the Junior Surf Advisory Group lead a review of our Junior Surf Programme with the aim to strengthen the focus on the future of our junior member’s journey.

Proposed Changes to the SLA - Patrol Captain

The National Lifesaving Committee has recommended a change to the minimum age for a person to gain the Senior Lifeguard - Patrol Captain Award (PC Award) from 16 years to 18 years of age.

NATIONAL SPORT VENUES

SLSNZ is proposing that National Sport Competitions, specifically the TSB New Zealand Surf Lifesaving Championships (“Nationals”) be allocated to one location on a multi-year basis. The multi-year term could either be two years, three years or two years with the option of a third year following a full review.
