<p><strong>COURSE OVERVIEW</strong></p> <p>National Lifeguard School provides Senior Surf Lifeguards with the skill development, knowledge and further understanding to progress as an Advanced Surf Lifeguard. The school combines dynamic theory sessions with a number of intensive practical and scenario based activities. Candidates will be extended both physically and mentally and a good level of fitness is required.</p> <p>If a candidate can achieve their Advanced Lifeguard Award, they are among the fittest and most capable lifeguards on the beach.  They will have demonstrated highly competent skills in all lifeguarding aspects in a patrol setting.</p> <p>Pre-requisites - National Lifeguard School </p> <p>18 years of age (on first day of school)</p> <p>Current member of a SLS club</p> <p>Surf Lifeguard Award (refreshed)</p> <p>Senior Lifeguard Award- IRB Driver (refreshed)</p> <p>Senior Lifeguard Award - Patrol Captain</p> <p>Rock Rescue Module</p> <p>Minimum 3 years patrolling</p> <p>Club endorsement to attend</p> <p>Swim 800m in less than 14 minutes</p> <p>Run 3km in less tan 20 minutes <br /><br /></p> <p>Instructor and mentor applications open 5th August and close 31st August.</p> <p>Candidate applications open 1st September and close on 29th September.</p> <p>Further information for candidates, mentors and instructors can be found on the website by clicking the link <a href="https://www.surflifesaving.org.nz/lifesaving/lifeguard-education/advanced-lifeguard">here</a>.</p> <p> </p> Development

Pre-requisites - National Lifeguard School 

18 years of age (on first day of school)

Current member of a SLS club

Surf Lifeguard Award (refreshed)

Senior Lifeguard Award- IRB Driver (refreshed)

Senior Lifeguard Award - Patrol Captain

Rock Rescue Module
