Kia ora,
The rescheduled date for the Gisborne Missing Swimmer at Sea training is:
Date: Tuesday 14 November
Time: 4:30pm – 5:15pm
Location: Midway SLSC
Purpose: A scenario based practical training in the Missing Swimmer at Sea Response/Reflex Task
In conjunction with club squad training please distribute to all who would benefit in this training – that includes and is not limited to Lifesaving Sport Athletes, Lifeguards (both SLA and PS), Coaches, Managers, Surf Officials, Junior Surf Coordinators, Junior Surf Age Group Leaders, Parents of Lifesaving Sport Athletes/Junior Surf, Event Water Safety, First Aid Officers
Outline:
Verbal overview of the Missing Swimmer at Sea Response
Practical scenario training of the Missing Swimmer at Sea Response
What you will need:
Lifesaving Sport Athletes (competent swimmers) – goggles, fins, minimum of wetsuit top
Lifeguards (competent swimmers) – SLA Rash Top, Tube and Fins, minimum of wetsuit top
Surf Officials – Whistles, SO uniform
Team Managers/Coaches/JS Age Group Leaders – list of who is involved in the training – also if you are competent swimmers and would like to be involved in the rescue swimmer group please also bring goggles, fins and minimum of wetsuit top (the more we can have in the water the more beneficial the training)
Event Water Safety – PPE for IRB driver and crew person
- Please note all those who intend to enter the water as “Rescue Swimmers” need to be refreshed/current SLA
Pre scenario learning/preparation:
Review the attached document to be aware of the role you may/could assist/be involved in
Look forward to seeing as many people as possible at the training, please distribute to those in your clubs who would benefit in being involved.
I’ll be reaching out to arrange water safety IRB x 2 and a refreshed SLA who can be the ‘floater’. Please advise any assistance in this in advance.
