Why is it happening?
In 2019, 50% of Surf Lifeguards were female, yet only 28% of our IRB drivers were female. This is something SLSNZ and the Wahine on Water group are looking to address through peering inexperienced lifeguards with an experienced female IRB mentor. The intention of the networking day is to provide females more time in IRBs in a supportive, low stress environment.
