Description
This is an IRB development day targeted at females from all clubs who would like to spend a fun day in an IRB learning tips from some of the best female IRB drivers in the region. Wāhine on Water promotes a fun, supportive and non-intimidating environment for you to give it a go, sharpen up your skills or simply make some new friends in surf.
You do not need to have any experience in the IRB to attend this event, you’ll be supported, regardless of your experience to learn in a safe and supportive environment and to choose the activities that you’d like to take part in.

Why is it happening?
In 2019, 50% of Surf Lifeguards were female, yet only 28% of our IRB drivers were female. This is something SLSNZ and the Wahine on Water group are looking to address through peering inexperienced lifeguards with an experienced female IRB mentor. The intention of the networking day is to provide females more time in IRBs in a supportive, low stress environment.
