Description
The purpose of this training is to understand the theory and be able to implement the procedures/ practices necessary of a missing persons at sea response. As Surf Life Saving Clubs, we are all well prepared and trained on how to respond if a person gets into difficulty between the patrol flags and puts their hand up. However, would you know what to do if they disappeared from sight, or if one of your clubbies went missing during a lifeguard or sport training session?
There is an ever-present risk that a person will go ‘missing’ at a club event – be it junior surf training, surf lifeguard training, oceans training, IRB driver/crew training, surf sports training, ocean swims, club, local, regional or national carnivals and events, and it is vital every Club has a prepared response to this scenario.
A missing person can happen so fast that we all need to spring into action immediately, in a co-ordinated manner when this type of incident happens on our beach.
It is recommended that everyone who is able to attends all sessions.
The theory session is especially relevant for Club Leaders, Junior Surf Coaches, Club staff, Committee representatives, Patrol Captains, Lifeguards, Surf Sport Coaches, Surf Sport competitors, Junior Surf parents, Team Managers
