The qualification enables members to obtain relevant theory and practical skills about instruction and teaching to be utilised when training members in rock activities. </p> <hr> <h3>Course Information </h3> <p>Prerequisites: </p> <ul> <li>Current member of a SLS club </li> <li>18 years of age </li> <li>Surf Lifeguard Award (refreshed) </li> <li>Minimum 3 years active patrol experience, including relevant rock activity experience </li> <li>Rock Rescue and Training Module </li> <li>Demonstrated competency of local beach, local drifts/currents/swells and rock conditions </li> <li>Instructors Award - Surf Lifeguard or IRB </li> <li>Attend a Rock Training and Rescue Instructors Course </li> </ul> <p><span>Duration</span>: Half Day (4-5 hours) + onsite assessment </p> <p><span>Delivered by</span>: Instructors Course delivery by regional SLSNZ Rock Instructor Assessors/facilitators </p> <p><span>Who should complete it</span>: Anyone interested in instructing the Rock Training &amp; Rescue Module </p> <p><span>Candidate requirements</span>: Full participate in the Instructors Course and complete the practical components</p> <h3>Topics Covered </h3> <ol> <li>Introduction </li> <li>Communication &amp; Planning </li> <li>Risk Management </li> <li>Rock Training &amp; Rescue Theory </li> <li>Practical Delivery of module components </li> <li>Readiness for Assessment </li> </ol> <h3>Outcomes</h3> <p>At the completion of the qualification candidates will be able to:</p> <ol> <li>Prepare for lessons and implement lesson plans and sequences</li> <li>Create a safe physical environment conducive to learning/training</li> <li>Communicate with candidates</li> <li>Identify and apply effective questioning techniques</li> <li>Identify, manage and assess Risk </li> <li>Demonstrate instructing ability of the practical module components </li> <li>Prepare candidates for assessment</li> </ol> Development
