<p>SLSNZ Instructor Training Course will give you the basic skills and knowledge to be an instructor across a number of awards. Following the course, trainees will need to instruct and present candidates for the relevant exam to earn a particular Instructor Award. The qualification will equip you with relevant theory and practical skills about instruction and teaching to use when training members in the Surf Lifeguard Award, Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) Awards, Rescue Water Craft (RWC) Awards and Rock Rescue Module.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Requirements:</strong>           Participate in full courses as required for qualification; Complete all theory requirements – full workbook; Successfully put 4 candidates through the relevant qualification.</p> <p><strong>OUTCOMES</strong></p> <p><strong>At the completion of the qualification, the candidate will be able to:</strong></p> <ol> <li>Prepare for lessons and implement lesson plans and sequences</li> <li>Create a safe physical environment conducive to learning/training</li> <li>Communicate with candidates/athletes</li> <li>Identify and apply effective questioning techniques</li> <li>Evaluate own instruction</li> <li>Identify and apply learning styles and identify and reduce learning barriers</li> <li>Prepare candidates for assessment</li> <li>Understand the roles and responsibilities of an instructor</li> </ol> <p><strong>PRE-REQUISITES</strong><strong> </strong></p> <p><strong>Instructor Award – Surf Lifeguard</strong>           16 years of age (changes pending) ; Surf Lifeguard Award (refreshed) ; Current First Aid Level 1; Current member of a SLS Club</p> <p><strong>Instructor Award – IRB </strong>                         18 years of age ; Current member of a SLS club; Senior Lifeguard Award - IRB Driver (refreshed); Current First Aid Level 1</p> <p>WHO SHOULD DO THIS COURSE:</p> <p><span>Anyone interested in getting started as an instructor </span></p> <p><strong>Registrations close Friday 3 July 2020</strong></p> <p><span>For further information see the flyer <a rel="noopener" data-udi="umb://media/6d7080e70cec477c92d526e6f42a9029" href="/media/990480/2020-instructor-training-course-flyer.pdf" target="_blank" title="Gisborne/Tairawhiti Instructors Training Course">here</a></span></p> Development
