<p><strong>COME AND CELEBRATE 20 YEARS OF OCEANS!!!</strong></p> <p>Welcome to Oceans’ 20, the premier Under 14 Surf Life Saving event and the 20th year the event has been run. Oceans’ has a proud history of being not only the largest Junior Surf Life Saving Event in New Zealand, but the most competitive, exciting and fun!</p> <p>Back at Mt Maunganui for 2020, we invite you to celebrate the very best of our future Surf Life Savers as members compete for their friends and against their fellow athletes.</p> <p>Dates: Thursday 27, February to Sunday 1, March 2020</p> <p><strong><u>Event Objectives</u></strong></p> <ul> <li>To learn some lifelong water safety skills.</li> <li>To provide the best possible life saving experience for all juniors with the view to encouraging long-term active participation.</li> <li>To provide opportunities for juniors to actively participate in and enjoy life saving and competition in an aquatic environment.</li> <li>To ensure our junior member are safe on New Zealand's beaches through building knowledge and experiences in the Junior Surf Programme.</li> <li>To develop a team based philosophy encompassing leadership, camaraderie, teamwork, and fun.</li> <li>To promote social, emotional and physical growth and development in a healthy and safe environment.</li> </ul> <p><strong><u>Entries</u></strong></p> <p>Entries are now open via the EnterNow system and will close at <u>5pm on Monday 10th February</u> 2020.</p> <p>For more information see the Event Entry Circular and other event information:</p> <p><a data-udi="umb://media/13cbce643ee5496797e53dc660c88b70" href="/media/989222/oceans-20-event-entry-circular-v2.pdf" title="Oceans 20 Event Entry Circular (V2).pdf">- Oceans' 20 Event Entry Circular</a></p> <p><strong>Medical Conditions</strong></p> <p>All participants and officials with a pre-existing medical condition must complete and submit a Pre-Existing Medical Conditions Declaration form prior to the close of entries. These forms are to be submitted to the Event Manager (Matt Warren) by email to matt.warren@surflifesaving.org.nz. Online orders will be available early in the new year.</p> <p><strong><u> Competition Safety</u></strong></p> <p>Safety at this event is every bodies responsibility, Volunteers, Managers, Coaches, Parents and Athletes. Making good decisions about the conditions and athlete ability is essential both during racing, warm up and on the beach. <strong>Please ensure athlete safety and wellbeing comes first!</strong></p> <p>Clubs will be required to provide the following:</p> <ul> <li>Qualified, refreshed lifeguards anytime your athletes are in the water while not racing. This includes the days leading into the event.</li> <li>On call qualified, refreshed lifeguard for missing persons at sea reflex tasking.</li> <li>Qualified, refreshed lifeguards as arena safety observer for 1-2 sessions.</li> </ul> <p>More information about the safety at the event is contained in the entry circular and the draft Competition Safety Plan. Medical Conditions

 Competition Safety
