Description
There are two types of Instructor Awards, one for Surf Lifeguard Instructors and the other for IRB Instructors. This Course covers both of these awards however each does have their own set of pre-reqs - please check out the SLSNZ Website on the links below for more info.
The Instructors Award - Surf Lifeguard certifies that the holder has the basic skills and knowledge to be an Instructor. The qualification enables members to obtain relevant theory and practical skills about instruction and teaching to be utilised when training members.
The Instructors Award - IRB certifies that the holder has the basic skills and knowledge to be an Instructor. The qualification enables members to obtain relevant theory and practical skills about instruction and teaching to be utilised when training members.

Date: Saturday 2nd November 2019
Venue: Papamoa Surf Lifesaving Club
Time: 9am Kick off - Please be at the venue by 8:45am ready for a 9am start.

Outcomes
At the completion of the qualification candidates will be able to:
- Prepare for lessons and implement lesson plans and sequences
- Create a safe physical environment conducive to learning/training
- Communicate with candidates/athletes
- Identify and apply effective questioning techniques
- Evaluate own instruction
- Identify and apply learning styles and identify and reduce learning barriers
- Prepare candidates for assessment
- Identify the roles and responsibilities of an instructor
