News:

IMPORTANT NOTICE: the U12 Tube Rescue Race has been removed from the Oceans' 17 Programme.

The Event Management Committee recommended the removal of the U12 Tube Rescue from the Oceans' 17 Programme as a result of health and safety concerns. These included:

  • The risks associated with transporting kids via IRB at Mount Main Beach in order to drop them out at the bouy line. We are technically overloading the craft beyond what is recommended and creating a heightened level of risk.
  • The swimmers must tread water and then swim for a period of time that is not aligned to the junior surf manual and subsequently the skill development pathway.
  • The length of the programme is drastically effected by this event.

Subsequently, the National Sport Committee endorsed the recommendation based on the above information. Please feel free to contact the Event Manager if you have any queries or concerns.
