However an indication of how many athletes you will be bringing to the event is expected. Athletes will need to give there name to their age group manager on the day.</p> <h4>Team Managers &amp; Officials Meeting</h4> <p>Team Managers meeting will begin at 8:00am inside the surf club. Official and helpers meeting will start at 8:20am inside the surf club.<br /> Note: Each club must supply 2 helpers per age group</p> <h4>Competition Events</h4> <p>All events will be conducted as described in the NZ Junior surf Manual, but may be altered by the carnival controller as required. Heats will be conducted if required. Finals for each event will run at the conclusion<br /> of the heats for that event.<br /> All competitors must be on the SLSNZ Database and hold and appropriate qualifications, i.e 200m Swim Badge for all paddle board races. Refer to the junior surf manual page 18 - Mandatory safety requirement.</p> <h4>Age Groups</h4> <p>Whangamata Junior Carnival will be conducted in the following age groups: 6,7,8,9,10,11,12 and 13 year olds. Age is taken at midnight on September 30th 2012. Girls and boys will race separately.</p> <h4>Prize Giving</h4> <p>Certificates will be handed out to the top 3 in each age group. A sausage sizzle will also be on for when the athletes finish racing.</p> <h4>Uniform</h4> <p>Competitors must wear club togs, high visibility vests and club competition caps (Registered by SLSNZ). A discussion may be had at the managers meeting around wetsuits if the weather turns poorly</p> <h4>Points</h4> <p>Points will be allocated to first, second and third place for all individuals and team events. Individual points will also be added together for top age group competitor totals.<br /> Individual Points: 1st = 5 points 2nd = 3 points 3rd = 1 point</p> <h4>Board Sizes</h4> <p>6/7/8 Years - Body boards (must have a lesh)<br /> 9 years - 8' 10" Maximum length, made from foam, plastic<br /> 10/11 years - 8' 10" Maximum length, made from foam, plastic or fibreglass<br /> 12/13 - 10' 6" maximum length, made from foam, plastic or fibreglass<br /> *Note - if a 9 year old chooses to participate in a board race on a body board then they will not be eligible for points, they will simply be participating in the event</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> Sport

*Note - if a 9 year old chooses to participate in a board race on a body board then they will not be eligible for points, they will simply be participating in the event
