Sports Pathway

Provides and co-ordinates a range of coaching actitivites across all levels of the club

NZ Representative coaches are selected by each region to compete in a one day event.  The event is a step in the pathway for coaches to work towards acheiving national representative honours.  

The New Zealand Coaches are charged with managing the Performance of the NZ Teams, development of high performance athletes, supporting high performance campaign planning and delivery.  Positions are advertised every two years in conjunction with the Lifesaving World Championships Cycle.  Currently positions for coaching are in the Youth, Development and Open levels.

Any Surf Life Saving Club members interested in gaining basic knowledge and skills in surf coaching including new surf coaches, or existing coaches with no formal training.

Developing Surf Coach Award

Who should complete it

Any Surf Life Saving Club coaches interested in wanting to advance their knowledge and skills to be able to effectively coach athletes interested in competition.  Athletes must be at a competition level of Oceans or above.

Who should complete it
Current Level 1 officials who are interested in further developing their skills and surf officiating progression. Level 2 is targeted at those officials who are looking to step up into roles of Arena Referee, Cheif Judge, Starter or a more advanced officiating role.  .
