Please find some important information you need to know
prior to applying for a Regional Lifeguard Service position
Surf Life Saving New Zealand Members
In order to apply for a position as a Regional Lifeguard
you MUST:
- Hold a current SLSNZ Surf Lifeguard Award (or equivalent
qualification) and be able to demonstrate current proficiency for
all components of the SLSNZ Surf Lifeguard Award qualification at
any time.
- Hold a current First Aid Level 1 or Work Place First Aid
Qualification (you will need to know the date you last
completed the relevant first Aid qualification)
- You MUST also have the following documents completed with you
prior to (sent through the Q jumpers system) or on the day of the
above Regional Assessment dates:

Tax Code Declaration (pdf)
Either a Kiwisaver
Opt In (pdf) or Kiwisaver Opt
Out (pdf) application
New Employee
Details (doc)
Police
Vetting Form (doc). Refer to the Police Vetting
User Guide (pdf) for assistance.
- You will need your membership number in order to complete the
online application. If you do not know this please contact your
club administrator.
- The Regional Lifeguard Service programme employment duration
varies from region to region. It is expected that you will be
available to work throughout this period including public holidays
that fall in between Mondays and Fridays during your employment
period.
- You will only need to apply for your preferred position once,
should you not be successful in this your supervisor will
reposition you into another vacant position upon your consent.
International Applicants
In order to apply for a position as a Regional Lifeguard you
must:
- Be legally allowed to work in New Zealand. http://www.immigration.govt.nz/
- Hold either a SLSA Bronze medallion or SLSGB Beach Lifeguard
Award and be able to demonstrate current proficiency for all
components of the SLSNZ Surf Lifeguard Award qualification at any
time.
- Hold a current First Aid Level 1 or Work Place First Aid
equivalent qualification (you will need to know the
date you last completed the relevant first Aid
qualification)
- Enter a SLSNZ Membership number as 00000 ( this requires you to
be a member of a member of a SLS club in New Zealand)
- The Regional Lifeguard Service programme employment duration
varies from region to region. It is expected that you will be
available to work throughout this period including public holidays
that fall in between Mondays and Fridays during your employment
period.
